A Patch of Blue

But if we share our sadness, And hopes and feelings too; Amid the frequent rain of tears, We'll find our patch of blue. - Eleisha John

Healthy Narcissism

At what age do we start trying to hide our pleasure at seeing ourselves in the mirror? Right now Tink is just soo pleased when he sees himself. "Look at me! I'm so handsome! Hee-hee!." At some point we're taught that it's not becoming to be so self-involved. Yet we all still covertly check ourselves out whenever the opportunity presents itself. Most of the time we're pretty happy with what we see too. So why do we have to hide it?

Today we were at a wedding shower and ran into acquaintances who had a baby the same day as we did. She is an amazing sleeper, every parent's worst nightmare when they have a baby who isn't. Not that they rub it in our faces, but still. You resent the well-rested looks on their faces and the healthy spring to their step. Meanwhile my husband Krazy was diagnosed with mono yesterday due to the insane lack of sleep we were getting about two months ago. Things are much better now. Now we're only mildly sleep-deprived.

But still. I half-jokingly pray that their next baby puts them through their parenthood paces proper.
